Juvenile offenders & Media

What you see above is an article in a widely read Tamil daily regarding a crime by two young boys.

Here what troubles me is the way in which not only the identity but also the photographs are published. Though I respect the "Freedom of Press", I only wish if we can follow little journalistic ethics and not expose the juvenile offenders to the media.

This is just one of the many such articles that keep getting published in the papers these days. I still remember the elaborate article on the boys who killed a younger kid a few weeks ago along with an interview of the father of one of teh offenders

Where are we going in the name of sensationalisation of the media?

IF

I was going through a mailer and chanced upon this piece if wonder.... One of the most inspiring poetry from Rudyard Kipling

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Writing a poem for your sweet heart was never this easy!

I felt the urge to put my feelings in writing
I really feel our connection is tightening
You are my eternal sunshine
You are my true valentine

Meeting you was like winning the grand prize
Especially when looking into your beautiful eyes
The moment I saw you my heart was sold
We fit together like a nut and bolt

We met each other, some time ago
Since then my love for you did only grow
I anxiously await our time ahead
With impatience, I am fed

All of you is what I need
Please tell me where it can lead
Bye bye, my love
You are someone I am very proud of

Republic Day Parade

Republic day parade (RD Parade) has been a dream to attend during my school and college days. I even reached the south zone level of RD parade selection during my college days, but had to turn back because some gentleman in teh selection committee said only one from a university can be selected and my friend Bala was selected.

So I thought I should atleast see the parade once when I am in Delhi. Here was the opportunity for as I am in Delhi during this years RD parade. we were required to buy tickets for the parade, which due to my laziness and my friend's busy schedule at work we could not buy.But we thought we will find a way to see the parade at any cost.

So we both started at around 6AM to Rajpath, we reach there far ahead of time and get through the security checks and reach a place near the India Gate, only to find that the view from this place will not be good, so then we started out in search of a better place, then get this place on the Rajpath, we walk through the few more rings of security checks and find a place on the ground to sit and see the parade.

The parade was awesome, far more interesting than all those many parades that i have seen on TV, one thing that made the day was the diaplay by IAF fighters, amazing display of the strength to the people gathered there.

26th Jan 2007 will always be the most memorable day in my life

Life is NOT beautiful

the worst thing that can happen to an individual is being dis- satisfied and not knowing why. this is a phenomena which happens where you feel that you are dissatisfied but you are not able to find the reason behind that. this results in frustration and stress.
